• Nasty Tulumba Cakes Still Want My Death

    2006-2012, series of drawings

The series of drawings Nasty Tulumba Cakes Still Want My Death represents a point of departure and a highly intimate observation of the topics of consummation and consumerism in relation to growing-up, body, anorexia, sexuality, imagination and social conditioning.

Tulumba series became Marina’s imaginary world where all her key terms are co-existing, althought dialecticaly opposed. Teddy bears, bunnies and kittens are transsfered into world of adult sexuality. Likewise, concepts of sickness, death and religion are posed into realm of child play. These inversions, question possibility of maturing without leaving childhood- its icons and symbols, and in the same time display unspeakable wierdness of complex relations between child and adult.
